The Special Operations Command of the FDNY includes Rescue Companies, Marine Fire Boats, Hazardous Material Units (Haz-Mat) and Engine Squads. The responsibilities of SOC have grown over the decades and has more recently been shaped by the challenges New York City faces as the preeminent symbol of American Liberty and Strength.
