Founded in 1803, the Wethersfield Volunteer Fire Department serves the Town of Wethersfield, Connecticut, a largely-suburban community immediately south of Hartford. WVFD's volunteers serve a town of 27,000; its status as one of the oldest permanent settlements in the state give rise to historic buildings, along with several busy commercial districts, including a portion of the Berlin Turnpike & and the Silas Deane Highway.
